NCP1212 is a high-performance current mode PWM controller specifically designed for off−line and DC−to−DC converter applications. The device requires very few external components and offers designer additional protection for better system reliability. The device features a trimmed oscillator for precise Duty Cycle control, accurate bandgap voltage reference, high gain error amplifier, current sensing comparator, and a high current totem pole output gate driver that ideally drives the external power MOSFET. The device operates in current mode up to 200 kHz and has inherent feed-forward compensation. It also has latching PWM for cycle−by−cycle current limiting and a low startup and operating current. The NCP1212 has internal undervoltage lockout with hysteresis, internal leading-edge blanking for current feedback, and a direct interface with Optocoupler for secondary sensing. It also has a built−in soft−start function that is programmable by an external capacitor. The maximum duty cycle is user programmable with options for 48% or 82%. The NCP1212 provides output overvoltage protection against open loop and AC line brownout detect protection. It also has output overload protection irrespective of the auxiliary voltage level.
