    PWM Current-Mode Controller for Universal Off-Line Supplies Featuring Standby and Short Circuit Protection

    The NCP1203P is a type of offline switcher and AC DC converter that serves as a PWM current-mode controller. It comes in an SOIC-8 or PDIP-8 package and is a significant advancement towards compact switch mode power supplies. The device is an excellent replacement candidate for the UC384X devices.

    Thanks to its advanced SMARTMOS™ Very High Voltage Technology, the circuit can implement complete offline AC-DC adapters, high-power SMPS, and battery chargers with minimal external components. The controller features a switching frequency of 40 kHz, 60 kHz, or 100 kHz operating at fixed switching frequency, with a high-voltage startup FET that ensures a clean and loss-less system start-up sequence. The current-mode control of the NCP1203P provides excellent audio-susceptibility and inherent pulse-by-pulse control. It also offers short circuit protection and standby functions.
