Description
The PCA9536DGK is an 8-pin complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) device that provides 4 bits of GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) expansion for I 2 C (Inter-Integrated Circuit)/SMBus applications. It was developed to enhance the Philips family of IC I/O expanders. I/O expanders provide a simple solution when additional I/O is needed for ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) power switches, sensors, push-buttons, LEDs, fans, etc.

- Operating power supply voltage range of 2.3 to 5.5 V
- 5 V tolerant I/Os
- Polarity inversion register
- Active low interrupt output
- Low standby current
- Noise filter on SCL/SDA inputs
- No glitch on power-up
- Internal power-on reset
- 4 I/O pins which default to 4 inputs with 100 kΩ internal pull-up resistor
- 0 to 400 kHz clock frequency
- ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection exceeds 2000 V HBM (Human Body Model) per JESD22-A114, 200 V MM (Machine Model) per JESD22-A115, and 1000 V CDM (Charged Device Model) per JESD22-C101
- Latch-up testing is done to JESDEC standard JESD78, which exceeds 100 mA
- Two packages offered: SO8 and TSSOP8
Application Scenarios
The PCA9536DGK is designed to be used with I 2 C/SMBus applications where additional GPIOs are required for various electronic devices or systems. Some examples of application scenarios are ACPI power switches, sensors, push-buttons, LEDs, fans, etc.
