The P89C51RC+IB is an electronic component model in the IC Chips category. It is a microcontroller that contains a non-volatile Flash program memory. This memory can be programmed in parallel or through in-system and in-application programming. In-system programming allows for downloading new code while the microcontroller is in use. In-application programming enables the microcontroller to fetch and reprogram itself while in the system. This feature allows for remote programming over a modem link. The P89C51RC+IB also has a default serial loader program in ROM, which enables serial in-system programming of the flash memory via the UART without the need for a loader in the flash code. For in-application programming, the user program can erase and reprogram the flash memory using standard routines contained in ROM.
