PBD 3517/1 is a bipolar, monolithic, integrated circuit, designed for driving a stepper motor in a unipolar, bilevel manner. With just one PBD 3517/1 and a few external components, it can function as a complete control and drive unit for LS-TTL- or microprocessor-controlled stepper motor systems with currents of up to 500mA. This driver is especially suitable for applications that require minimal RFI (radio frequency interference). Additionally, the motor performance can be improved by operating it in a bilevel drive mode, where a high voltage pulse is applied to the motor winding at the beginning of each step to achieve a rapid rise in current.
