Description

The IMP528EMA is an Electroluminescent (EL) lamp driver designed for driving EL lamps of up to 50nF capacitance to high brightness. It is an IC chip that integrates the switch-mode power supply, high-frequency oscillator, high-voltage H-bridge lamp driver, and low-frequency oscillator on-chip. With a regulated output voltage of 220V peak-to-peak, the IMP528EMA is capable of driving EL lamps with capacitances greater than 50nF but with lower light output. Unlike other EL lamp drivers, it does not require an external protection resistor in series with the EL lamp. The IMP528EMA operates within a supply voltage range of 2.0V to 6.5V and can be powered by a regulated, low-power source. It conserves power and extends battery life with its built-in circuit that shuts down the switching regulator when the lamp drive voltage reaches 220V peak-to-peak. The IMP528EMA is available in MicroSO and SO-8 packages, as well as in die or wafer form.
