The 24C16N is a component in the memory category of electronic products. It is a CMOS non-volatile electrically erasable memory that consists of 16,384 bits. This component follows the Standard IIC 2-wire protocol and is designed to reduce the number of pins and simplify PC board layout requirements. The upper half of the memory, specifically the upper 8Kbit, can be write protected by connecting the WP pin to VCC. Once write protected, this section of memory cannot be altered unless WP is switched to VSS.
