The CXP87540-048R is a CMOS 8-bit microcomputer designed for various applications that require low power consumption, high precision timing control, and servo signal processing. It incorporates many functions like an arithmetic coprocessor, A/D converter, serial interface, timer/counter, and PPG generator in a single chip. It is integrated with a power-on reset function and sleep/stop mode for reducing power consumption.

- Timer with 8-bit timer, 8-bit timer/counter, and 19-bit time base timer
- High precision timing pattern generator PPG (11 pins) 32-stage programmable
- PWM output of 12-bit, 2-channel (Repeated frequency 48kHz) and 8-bit, 3-channel (Repeated frequency 48kHz)
- Servo input control of Capstan FG, Drum FG/PG, Reel FG input
- FRC capture unit incorporated with 28-bit and 8-stage FIFO
- Interruption of 12 factors, 12 vectors, multi-interruption possible
- Standby mode sleep/stop
- Package 100-pin plastic QFP/LQFP
- Piggyback/evaluation CXP87500 100-pin ceramic QFP/LQFP
