The RD491D is a multi-channel digital audio decoder designed for Dolby Digital and MPEG-2 Stereo decoding. It is part of the CS4923/4/5/6/7/8 family of electronic components. The CS4923/4/5/6 are capable of Dolby Digital and MPEG-2 Stereo decoding, while the CS4925 adds MPEG-2 multi-channel encoding capability and the CS4926 provides DTS decoding. The CS4927 is an MPEG-2 multi-channel decoder and the CS4928 is a DTS multi-channel decoder.
