Description
The A3959SLPTR-T is a motor driver and controller component designed for pulse width modulated (PWM) current control of DC motors.
It is capable of outputting currents to ±3 A and operating voltages up to 50 V. The component has internal fixed off-time PWM current control timing circuitry which can be adjusted via control inputs to operate in slow, fast, and mixed current-decay modes.
The component also includes PHASE and ENABLE input terminals which allow for external control of DC motor speed and direction using PWM-control signals. In addition, internal synchronous rectification control circuitry is provided to reduce power dissipation during PWM operation.
The A3959SLPTR-T has internal circuit protection that includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis, undervoltage monitoring of supply and charge pump, and crossover-current protection. Special power-up sequencing is not required for this component.
The component comes in three different power packages: a 24-pin DIP with batwing tabs (package suffix ‘B’), a 24-lead SOIC with four internally-fused pins (package suffix ‘LB’), and a thin (<1.2 mm) 28-pin TSSOP with an exposed thermal pad (suffix ‘LP’). All packages have power pins and tabs at ground potential and require no electrical isolation. Each package is lead (Pb) free, with 100% matte tin leadframes.
