The D8742 is a general-purpose Universal Peripheral Interface that allows designers to create their own customized solution for control of peripheral devices. It includes a low-cost microcomputer with 2K program memory, 128 bytes of data memory, an 8-bit timer/counter, and clock generator. The D8742 comes in a single 40-pin package and has interface registers that enable it to function as a peripheral controller in various 8-bit and 16-bit systems.
