Description
The A953 (2SA953) is a 16-bit I2C-bus and SMBus I/O expander designed for dimming LEDs in RGB color mixing and backlight applications. It features 256 discrete steps for LED brightness control, with two user-programmable blink rates and duty cycles. The internal oscillator eliminates the need for external components, and the I2C-bus interface logic is compatible with SMBus. The A953 operates at a power supply voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V and supports a clock frequency of 0 to 400 kHz. It is available in SO24, TSSOP24, and HVQFN24 packages.

- ESD protection exceeds 2000 V HBM per JESD22-A114, 150 V MM per JESD22-A115, and 1000 V CDM per JESD22-C101
- Latch-up testing is done to JEDEC Standard JESD78 which exceeds 100 mA
