It is a ferroelectric random access memory (F-RAM) that is nonvolatile and performs reads and writes like a RAM. The VN10-140E-121JT provides reliable data retention for 10 years while eliminating complexities and overhead associated with other nonvolatile memories such as Serial Flash.
