  • FAN4149 is a low-power controller for detecting hazardous ground and ground-to-zero line fault current paths. FAN4149 application circuitry will open the load contact before a harmful shock occurs. FAN4149 combined with FAN41501 automatic monitoring digital controller to meet the 2015 UL943 self-test requirements for permanently coupled GFCI products. FAN4149 detects and protects against hot-ground faults and zero-line/load shorts. the FAN41501 regularly monitors the FAN4149 and critical GFI components for compliance with 2015 UL943 requirements. The minimum component count and small 6-pin package enables a high-density, flexible application solution.The FAN4149 includes a precision no-band 14 V tap regulator, precision low VOS sense amplifier, time delay squelch filter, window detection comparator, and SCR driver. The low quiescent current of the shunt regulator operation enables high value, low power serial power resistors. Internal temperature-compensated tap regulators, sense amplifiers, and bias circuits provide accurate ground fault detection. This allows larger component models to be used, so there is no need to limit or fine-tune external components. Typical ±50 ?V VOS induction amplifier offset values allow direct DC coupling of the inductor coil. This eliminates the need for large AC coupling capacitors. The internal delay filter suppresses the high frequency noise spikes common with inductive loads. The SCR driver adds current and temperature compensation, enabling a wider range of external SCR options. Minimal external components and a 6-pin SOT23 package allow for low cost, compact design and layout.
