Description
The UTC LM386-4 is a power amplifier designed for low voltage consumer applications. It features a gain which is internally set to 20, keeping the external part count low. However, the gain can be increased to any value between 20 and 200 by adding an external resistor and capacitor between pin 1 and pin 8. The inputs are ground referenced, while the output automatically biases to one-half the supply voltage. With a quiescent power drain of only 24 milliwatts when operating from a 6 voltage supply, the LM386-4 is ideal for battery operation.
