Description
The HIP6004ECBZ-T is a special purpose voltage regulator and offers complete control and protection for a DC-DC converter that is designed to be optimized for high-performance microprocessor applications. Its synchronous-rectified buck topology allows for the driving of two N-Channel MOSFETs and integrates all of the control, output adjustment, monitoring, and protection functions into a single package.
Specifications and features
The HIP6004ECBZ-T features a 5-input digital-to-analog converter (DAC), which enables users to adjust and regulate the output voltage easily from 1.05VDC to 1.825VDC in 25mV increment steps. The regulator is equipped with a precision reference and voltage-mode regulator that maintains the chosen output voltage to within ±1% over temperature and line voltage variations.
It provides voltage-mode control with fast transient response via a 200kHz free-running triangle-wave oscillator that is adjustable from below 50kHz to over 1MHz. The HIP6004ECBZ-T includes an error amplifier with a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and 6V/µs slew rate, making it possible for it to attain high converter bandwidth for quick transient performance. The resulting PWM duty ratio ranges from 0% to 100%.
The regulator also features a window comparator that tracks the DAC output while monitoring the output voltage, issuing a Power Good signal when the output is within ±10%. It also protects against over-current and overvoltage issues by inhibiting PWM operation, while the MOSFET’s rDS(ON) is used to monitor the current, eliminating the need for a current sensing resistor.
