Description
The DNS-208-UL is a low-cost reflective optical sensor, specifically designed for implementing a computer mouse. It utilizes optical navigation technology, providing superior precision and smooth navigation optimized for desktop and portable mouse applications. With no mechanical moving parts, it offers high reliability and requires no maintenance. This compact 2-D motion sensor replaces the traditional mechanical ball system in mice, offering easy implementation and design flexibility. It features two selectable output modes: a two-channel quadrature output mode (X and Y direction) that emulates encoder phototransistors, and a standard 3-button PS/2 output mode. The DNS-208-UL also boasts a high-speed motion detector, accurately measuring up to 16 inches per second at 400 cpi. It ensures accurate navigation over a wide range of surfaces, enabling it to be used with or without a mouse pad. Additionally, it features a power conservation mode during no motion and is compatible with high volume manufacturing processes, requiring no precision optical alignment and being wave solderable. Compared to the HDNS-2000, the DNS-208-UL offers a 33% faster performance, operating at 2000 fps (@ 24 MHz).
