Description

The CS4218 Stereo Audio Codec is a monolithic CMOS device designed for computer multimedia, automotive, and portable audio applications. It performs A/D and D/A conversion, filtering, and level setting, creating 4 audio inputs and 2 audio outputs for digital computer systems. It features delta-sigma A/D and D/A converters with 64x oversampling, input anti-aliasing, and output smoothing filters. The CS4218 has programmable input gain and output attenuation, with a range of 0 dB to 22.5 dB for input gain and 0 dB to 46.5 dB for output attenuation. It supports sample frequencies from 4 kHz to 50 kHz and has low distortion with THD < 0.02% for both the DAC and ADC. The CS4218 has low power dissipation, consuming 80 mA typical, and also has a power-down mode that consumes only 1 mA typical. It is pin-compatible with the CS4216 in serial modes 3 and 4 and is I2S(TM) compatible in serial mode SM5. The CS4218 operates from either a 5V or 3.3V digital power supply and requires a 5V analog power supply.
