YDA135-V is a digital audio power amplifier controller IC that operates on a 12V power supply and delivers an output power of 20W/channel. It is designed to work in conjunction with general purpose Power MOSFETs to create an audio power amplifier with either 5W or 20W output. The IC accepts analog signals, converts them into digital pulse signals through a modulation circuitry, and drives the Power MOSFETs. The Power MOSFETs produce large current digital pulses that are then converted to audio signals through an external low pass filter and sent to the speakers.
With the use of a general purpose Power MOSFET, this IC enables the creation of a cost-effective digital amplifier system. Yamaha's proprietary modulation system ensures low distortion and high signal-to-noise ratio, making it one of the top digital amplifiers in its class.
The YDA135-V IC features an overcurrent detection function that detects overcurrent states by monitoring voltage drops in external resistors. It also has a high temperature detection function that senses temperature changes through the resistance value of external elements.
For control, the IC utilizes two signals: SLEEP and MUTE. The SLEEP signal stops all functions of the IC, minimizing power consumption. The MUTE signal puts the Power MOSFETs in a nonconductive state, muting the output of the device.
The YDA135-V is designed to be powered by two separate power supplies: 5V for signal processing circuits and 12V for Power MOSFET driving circuits.
