The S25FL040A004 is a 3.0 Volt (2.7V to 3.6V) Flash memory device. It consists of 64 uniform 64 KB sectors with two (Top or Bottom) 64 KB sectors further split up into thirty-two 4KB sub sectors. The device is fully backward compatible with the S25FL032A device. It accepts data written to the Serial Input (SI) and outputs data on the Serial Output (SO). The S25FL040A004 is designed to be programmed in-system with the standard 3.0-volt VCC supply.
Specifications and features
- Single power supply operation with a full voltage range of 2.7 to 3.6V for read and write operations.
- Memory architecture includes uniform 64 KB sectors, top or bottom parameter block with two 64-KB sectors broken down into sixteen 4-KB sub-sectors each, and a 256-byte page size. It is also backward compatible with the S25FL032A device.
- Program operations are page by page basis and can be accelerated using the 9V W#/ACC pin. It also supports Quad Page Programming.
- Erase functions include bulk erase, sector erase command (D8h) for 64 KB sectors, and sub-sector erase commands (P4E and P8E) for 4 KB and 8 KB sectors, respectively.
- Cycling endurance of 100,000 cycles per sector and data retention of 20 years.
- Device ID includes JEDEC standard two-byte electronic signature and RES command one-byte electronic signature for backward compatibility. It also has a one-time programmable (OTP) area for permanent, secure identification.
- CFI (Common Flash Interface) compliant, allowing the host system to identify and accommodate multiple flash devices.
- Manufactured on 0.09 µm MirrorBit® process technology. Available in various package options including 8-pin SO package (208 mils), 16-pin SO package (300 mils), 8-contact USON package (5 x 6 mm), 8-contact WSON package (6 x 8 mm), 24-ball BGA 6 x 8 mm package (5 x 5 pin configuration), and 24-ball BGA 6 x 8 mm package (6 x 4 pin configuration).
- Performance characteristics include various clock rates for different read modes and power saving standby modes.
- Memory protection features include the W#/ACC pin working in conjunction with status register bits to protect specified memory areas.
