The LTC1147CS8-5#PBF is a step-down switching regulator controller from the LTC®1147 series. It features automatic Burst ModeTM operation, which helps to maintain high efficiencies even at low output currents. With a constant off-time current mode architecture, this controller drives an external P-channel power MOSFET at switching frequencies exceeding 400kHz, providing constant ripple current in the inductor.
One of the key advantages of the LTC1147CS8-5#PBF is its very high efficiency, with over 95% efficiency being possible. It has a wide VIN range of 3.5V* to 16V, and its current mode operation ensures excellent line and load transient response. The high efficiency of this controller is maintained over three decades of output current, making it suitable for a variety of applications.
Additionally, the LTC1147CS8-5#PBF has a low standby current of 160µA at light loads, and its logic controlled micropower shutdown feature further reduces power consumption with an IQ of less than 20µA. It also offers short-circuit protection and very low dropout operation with a 100% duty cycle. Despite its high efficiency, this controller occupies a small amount of board space, making it a space-saving choice for designs. Furthermore, the output can be externally held high in shutdown, providing additional flexibility.
