Description

The SP8107EH is a three channel laser diode driver designed specifically for high speed DVD-RW or DVD-RAM applications. It operates two grounded laser diodes, one at 650nm for DVD and the other at 780nm for CD. The driver features three input channels that allow for setting of three different optical power levels. The first channel (IR) is a read channel with lower gain and output current, while the second (I2) and third (I3) channels are write channels with higher gain and output current. The write channels can be switched on/off at very fast switching speeds with TTL/CMOS logic level signals. The outputs of all channels are summed together and connected to either output IOUT A or IOUT B, depending on the logic signal at the input SELA. The inputs IR, I2, and I3 are current-controlled with 200 ohm DC impedance but allow voltage control through the use of external limiting resistors.
