Electronic Component Model: SCM2114ALE-2 is an IC chip that is used for discharge restrictive de-coupling. It operates on the same principles as the de-coupling capacitor, but only during turn-off switching. The circuit in Figure 1 shows how energy trapped in the loop inductance is transferred to the capacitor when the IGBT turns off. The excess charge on the capacitor is discharged through the external resistor, with the diode blocking oscillations from occurring. SCM2114ALE-2 has a flame resistant case and epoxy, meeting UL 94V0 standards. It also offers 1 or 2 wire taps for connecting an external resistor, and has other terminal pitches and capacitance values available.

Application Scenarios
- Use style SCM as a discharge restrictive de-coupling to protect dual IGBT modules from overvoltage (as shown in Figure 1)
- Style SCM may also be used as an "N" or "P" type snubber component for a clamp snubber where single IGBT modules are used (as shown in Figure 2)
