    The A3957SLBTR is an electronic component model designed for driving one winding of a bipolar stepper motor in a microstepping mode. It features continuous output currents of up to ±1.5 A and can operate at voltages up to 50 V. With internal pulse-width modulated (PWM) current control and a four-bit nonlinear digital-to-analog converter, this model allows precise control of the motor current in various microstepping modes such as full-, half-, quarter-, eighth-, or sixteenth-step. Microstepping enhances step resolution, minimizes torque variations, and reduces resonance problems at low speeds.

    Furthermore, the A3957SLBTR offers flexible current-decay modes, including slow (recirculating) current decay, fast (regenerative) current decay, and mixed current decay. The mixed mode divides the off time into a period of fast current decay and the remaining fixed off time spent in slow current decay. By selecting a user-selectable current-sensing resistor and reference voltage, digitally choosing the output current ratio, and using different current-decay modes, users have a wide range of motor control options available.

    This model also features internal circuit protections such as thermal shutdown with hysteresis, transient-suppression diodes, and crossover current protection. It does not require special power-up sequencing. The A3957SLBTR is available in two power packages: a 16-pin dual-in-line plastic package (suffix 'A') and a 24-lead plastic SOIC with copper heat-sink tabs (suffix 'LB'). The power tab is at ground potential and does not require electrical isolation.
