Description
The MC74HC4040ADG is a 12-stage binary ripple counter, which is a high-performance silicon-gate CMOS electronic component. It is compatible with standard CMOS outputs and LSTTL outputs when pullup resistors are used. This device consists of 12 master-slave flip-flops, with each flip-flop feeding the next and the frequency at each output being half of the preceding one. The state counter advances on the negative-going edge of the Clock input, and the reset is asynchronous and active-high. However, it is important to note that state changes of the Q outputs may not occur simultaneously due to internal ripple delays, and therefore, decoded output signals may need to be gated with the Clock of the HC4040A for specific designs.
