Description
The L78L00 series of three-terminal positive regulators are designed with internal current limiting and thermal shutdown capabilities, making them highly durable. These regulators can deliver up to 100 mA output current when a sufficient heat-sink is provided. They are commonly used as fixed voltage regulators in various applications, such as local or on-card regulation, to eliminate noise and distribution issues associated with single-point regulation. Additionally, they can be used in combination with power pass elements to create high-current voltage regulators. By replacing a Zener diode/resistor combination, the L78L00 series offers improved output impedance, lower quiescent current, and reduced noise.
