Description
The 74VHC163FT is an advanced high-speed CMOS device that falls under the category of Counters / Dividers. It is fabricated using silicon gate CMOS technology, which allows it to achieve high-speed operation similar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining low power dissipation. This device is a high-speed synchronous modulo-16 binary counter that is synchronously presettable for use in programmable dividers. It has two types of Count Enable inputs, as well as a Terminal Count output for versatility in forming multistage counters. The CLK input is active on the rising edge, and both PE and MR inputs are active on a low logic level. The VHC163 also offers synchronous presetting to the rising edge of CLK and a synchronous Clear function. It provides two enable inputs (ENP and ENT) and a Carry Output to enable easy cascading of counters, allowing for easy implementation of n-bit counters without the need for external gates.
