Description
The 74FST163244PA belongs to IDTs family of multiplexers, specifically the signal switches/decoders. Bus switch devices are designed to connect or isolate two ports without providing any inherent current sink or source capability, thereby generating little or no noise while providing a low resistance path for an external driver. The FST163244 employs an n-channel FET to connect input and output ports, allowing it to conduct and provide a small resistance between connected ports when adequately forward-biased. Without adequate bias on the gate-to-source junction of the FET, the FET is turned off, and the FST163244 has hot insertion capability. The low on-resistance and simplicity of the connection path between input and output ports reduce the delay almost to zero.
