MC14516B 同步正数/倒数二进制计数器在一个单片结构中使用 MOS P -channel和 N -channel增强模式器件构造。此计数器可通过对预设输入（P0、P1、P2、P3）应用所需的二进制值，然后将预设启用 (PE) 置于高电平，来进行预设。计数方向通过向 UP/DOWN 输入应用高电平（用于正数）或低电平（用于倒数）来进行控制。计数器的状态基于时钟输入的正向转换来变化。级联可通过对每个计数器进行并行计时的同时，将输出进位条与下一阶段的输入进位条相联接来完成。通过对重置 (R) 引脚应用高电平，可将输出（Q0、Q1、Q2、Q3）重置为低电平状态。此 CMOS 计数器主要用于正数/倒数和差异计数。其他应用包括： (1) 需要低功耗和/或高抗扰性的频率合成器应用，(2) 模拟-数字和数字-模拟转换，以及 (3) 量级和符号生成。
