Description
The SN74LS161AN is a high-speed 4-bit synchronous counter, belonging to the Counters/Dividers product category. It is an edge-triggered, synchronously presettable, and cascadable MSI building block designed for various applications such as counting, memory addressing, and frequency division. The LS160A and LS162A modules count modulo 10 (BCD), while the LS161A and LS163A modules count modulo 16 (binary).
One of the key features of this component is the asynchronous Master Reset (Clear) input in LS160A and LS161A, which overrides the clock and all other control inputs. On the other hand, LS162A and LS163A have a Synchronous Reset (Clear) input that overrides all other control inputs but is active only during the rising clock edge.
