The DS17485SN-5+ is a real-time clock (RTC) designed to serve as a successor to the industry-standard DS12885 and DS12887 models. It incorporates enhanced functions and features, making it a reliable and advanced option for various applications.

The DS17485SN-5+ offers the following specifications and features:
- RTC capability to count seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year with leap year compensation through 2099.
- Optional operation at either +3.0V or +5.0V.
- SMI recovery stack for improved system stability.
- 64-bit silicon serial number for unique identification.
- Power-control circuitry that supports system power-on from date/time alarm or key closure.
- Crystal select bit for operation with either 6pF or 12.5pF crystal.
- 12-hour or 24-hour clock options with AM and PM indications in 12-hour mode.
- 114 bytes of general-purpose, battery-backed non-volatile (NV) static random-access memory (SRAM).
- Extended battery-backed NV SRAM available with different capacities (2048 bytes, 4096 bytes, or 8192 bytes).
- RAM clear function for data management.
- Interrupt output with six independently maskable interrupt flags.
- Time-of-day alarm that can be set from once per second to once per day.
- End of clock update cycle flag for synchronization.
- Programmable square-wave output.
- Automatic power-fail detect and switch circuitry for reliable performance.
- Available in PDIP, SO, or TSOP package (DS17285, DS17485, DS17885 models).
- Optional encapsulated DIP (EDIP) package with integrated crystal and battery for convenience (DS17287, DS17487, DS17887 models).
- Optional industrial temperature range available.
- Underwriters Laboratory (UL) recognized for compliance and safety.
