Description
The LM340MP-5.0 is a linear voltage regulator belonging to the LM140/LM340A/LM340/LM7800C family of monolithic 3-terminal positive voltage regulators. These regulators feature internal current-limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe-area compensation, making them very durable and essentially indestructible. With adequate heat sinking, they can provide an output current of over 1.0A. They are widely used as fixed voltage regulators in various applications, including local on-card regulation to eliminate noise and distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. They can also be used with external components to achieve adjustable output voltages and currents.
