HCPL-7840-000E - Brand New AVAGO Isolation Amplifiers
-
Description
The HCPL-7840 isolation amplifier is a member of the HCPL-7840 family which has been designed specifically for current sensing in electronic motor drives. In typical implementation, motor currents flow through an external resistor, and the resulting analog voltage drop is sensed by the HCPL-7840. The isolation barrier then creates a differential output voltage. This voltage is proportional to the motor current and can be converted to a single-ended signal using an op-amp as indicated in the recommended application circuit.
Due to the swings of several hundred volts in modern switching inverter motor drives, the HCPL-7840 is designed to ignore common mode transitions with high slew rates of at least 10 kV/μs. With a high common-mode rejection capability, the HCPL-7840 can deliver the accuracy and stability necessary for accurately monitoring motor current across diverse types of motor control applications, hence providing for smoother control with less “torque ripple”.
