The S80C196NU is a microcontroller from the 8XC196MH family, part of Intel's lineup of 16-bit MCS® 96 microcontrollers. It is specifically designed for controlling three-phase AC induction and DC brushless motors, making it ideal for motor-control applications.

The S80C196NU features a high-performance CHMOS 16-bit CPU that operates at 16 MHz. It has 32 Kbytes of on-chip OTPROM/ROM and 744 bytes of on-chip register RAM. The microcontroller utilizes a register-to-register architecture and supports up to 16 prioritized interrupt sources. With a 3-phase complementary waveform generator, it provides pulsewidth modulation and three-phase sine wave generation with minimal CPU intervention.
