Techwell’s TW9908AAFB is a high-quality NTSC, PAL, and SECAM video decoder plus high-quality downscaler designed for multimedia applications. The TW9908AAFB utilizes mixed-signal 3.3V CMOS technology to provide a low-cost and low-power integrated solution. It requires minimal external components due to its integrated analog front-end, which includes AGC, clamping, and three 8-bit high-speed ADCs. This video decoder offers exceptional picture quality through an adaptive comb filter, luma/chroma processing, and a high-quality internal scaling engine. It also features a built-in Closed-Caption decoder and VBI data pass-through for data applications such as Closed-Captioning and IntercastÔ. The TW9908AAFB is an Analog Video Decoder that supports NTSC, PAL, and SECAM formats with automatic format detection. It offers advanced synchronization processing for VCR fast forward, backward, and pause modes. The TW9908AAFB supports multiple analog inputs, including composite and S-video inputs. It features programmable static gain or automatic gain control for the Y or CVBS channel, programmable white peak control, and various video processing features such as Notch or 2H comb filter Y/C separation, PAL delay line for color phase error correction, and image enhancement with programmable peaking. The video decoder also provides color decoding, hue, brightness, saturation, and contrast adjustments, automatic color control, color killer, and high-quality horizontal and vertical filtered scaling. The TW9908AAFB supports programmable output cropping, VMI 1.4 compatible pixel interface, ITU-R 601 or ITU-R 656 compatible output YCbCr(4:2:2) format, closed caption decoding, and VBI data pass-through for Intercast™. Additional features include a two-wire MPU serial bus interface, power-down mode, low power consumption, crystal support for all standards, 5V tolerant I/O, a 3.3V power supply, and a compact 100-pin PQFP package.
