Description
The ADM1485ARZ is a differential line transceiver designed for high speed bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. It complies with both RS-485 and RS-422 EIA Standards and is suitable for balanced data transmission. The driver and the receiver can be independently enabled and are both included in the part. The driver output is designed to be in high impedance state when disabled to minimize the loading effect when the transceiver is not in use. Excessive power dissipation is prevented by a thermal shutdown circuit that forces the driver output into a high impedance state during fault conditions. The receiver contains a fail-safe feature that results in a logic high output state if the inputs are unconnected. The ADM1485ARZ features fast switching speeds and low skew to minimize EMI interference. It is fabriacted on BiCMOS technology and is available in PDIP, SOIC, and small MSOP packages.
