    The ADM485JNZ1 is a differential line transceiver suitable for high-speed bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. It is designed for balanced data transmission and complies with EIA standards RS-485 and RS-422. The transceiver operates from a single 5V power supply and contains a differential line driver and receiver. Both the driver and receiver can be enabled independently, and when disabled, the outputs are three-stated. The ADM485JNZ1 also features a thermal shutdown circuit to prevent excessive power dissipation caused by bus contention or output shorting. If a significant temperature increase is detected, the driver output is forced into a high impedance state. This transceiver is suitable for applications where up to 32 transceivers can be connected simultaneously on a bus, with only one driver enabled at any time to ensure minimal loading effect on the bus. The receiver of the ADM485JNZ1 includes a fail-safe feature that results in a logic high output state if the inputs are unconnected. Fabricated using BiCMOS technology, the ADM485JNZ1 offers fast switching speeds, minimal driver propagation delays, and low skew to minimize EMI interference. It is available in 8-lead PDIP, 8-lead SOIC, and 8-lead MSOP packages.
