Description
The XR16C850IJ is a UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) electronic component that is pin compatible with the ST16C550, ST16C650A, and TI's TL16C750 UART. It is an enhanced UART which comes with 128 byte FIFOs, automatic hardware/software flow control, and data rates up to 1.5Mbps. Transmit/receive FIFO counters are available to increase the throughput of data loading and unloading. It also includes onboard status registers to indicate errors and operational status. The XR16C850IJ comes with modem interface control and can be optionally configured to operate with the Infrared (IrDA) encoder/decoder. Internal loopback is also available for onboard diagnostics.
