The P82B715PN,112 is a bipolar integrated circuit mainly used for I 2C bus systems for signal buffering, repeating, and splitting. It has the same operational modes and features of the I 2C system, but allows for an extension in practical separation distance between components on the bus by buffering both the data (SDA) and clock (SCL) lines. The bus distance limitation on the I 2C bus is due to a capacitance limit of 400pF, which restricts communication distances to a few meters. By using one P82B715PN,112 on each end of longer cables, the cable loading capacitance on the I 2C bus can be reduced by a factor of 10 times, which may permit the use of low-cost general-purpose wiring to extend bus lengths.
