The Texas Instruments CD74HCT540E is a high-speed 3 to 8 decoder/demultiplexer logic device. It is a member of the TI HCT (High-Speed CMOS) family and is available in both 16-pin DIP and SOIC packages. This device accepts three binary address inputs (A0, A1 and A2) and generates an active low output (F0–F7) corresponding to the address provided. When enabling input (EN) is in the active low state, the selected F output is enabled and all other outputs are in the active high-state. This device is primarily used where multiple data sources need to be connected to a single data line. It can be used as a memory decoder, input/output decoder, address decoder, and other multiplexing and demultiplexing applications. It operates over a wide voltage range (4.5 V to 5.5 V) and features an extended operating temperature range of -55°C to 85°C.
