    AK8980-L is a 3-axis electronic compass IC with high sensitive Hall sensor technology. It incorporates small magnetic sensors for detecting terrestrial magnetism in the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis, along with a sensor driving circuit, signal amplifier chain, and an arithmetic circuit for processing the signal from each sensor. It also has a self-test function. With its compact footprint and thin package, AK8980-L is suitable for map heading up purposes in GPS-equipped cell phones to realize pedestrian navigation functions.
