    The AC6AFJ is a SIDACtor component designed to protect telecom equipment during hazardous transient conditions. It is a solid-state crowbar device that offers effective protection within nanoseconds. With surge current ratings up to 5000 A, it provides simple solutions for regulatory requirements such as GR 1089, TIA-968, ITU-T K.20, ITU-T K.21, and UL 60950.

    Specifications and features

    In standby mode, the AC6AFJ exhibits a high off-state impedance, eliminating excessive leakage currents and appearing transparent to the circuits it protects. When a voltage exceeding the switching voltage (VS) is applied, the AC6AFJ crowbars and simulates a short circuit condition until the current flowing through it is interrupted or drops below the holding current (IH). It then resets and returns to its high off-state impedance.

    Application Scenarios

    The AC6AFJ is commonly used for protecting telecommunication circuits. It can be connected across Tip and Ring for metallic protection and across Tip and Ground and Ring and Ground for longitudinal protection. It is suitable for a range of applications, including central office line cards (SLICs), T-1/E-1, ISDN, and xDSL transmission equipment, customer premises equipment (CPE), PBXs, KSUs, switches, primary protection systems, data lines, security systems, CATV line amplifiers, power inserters, and sprinkler systems.
