The MPC860TCZQ50D4 is a microprocessor from the PowerQUICC series that is designed for communication and networking systems. It is a versatile one-chip integrated microprocessor and peripheral combination, featuring a single-issue, 32-bit architecture that implements the PowerPC architecture. It has various general-purpose registers (GPRs), embedded memory, and advanced on-chip emulation debug mode, among others.

- Four baud-rate generators (BRGs) and four serial communications controllers (SCCs) supporting Ethernet/IEEE 802.3, HDLC/SDLC, Asynchronous HDLC, and other communication protocols
- Two SMCs (serial management channels), one SPI (serial peripheral interface), and one I2C (inter-integrated circuit) port
- Low power support with various modes such as full on, doze, sleep, deep sleep, and power down modes
- 357-pin ball grid array (BGA) package and 3.3 V operation with 5-V TTL compatibility except EXTAL and EXTCLK
