The Texas Instruments LM391N-1 is a dot/bar display driver. It will take a single input voltage and drive a red/green LED display with a resolution of 10 different lights. It can be used to measure a wide range of signals from high- level audio to low-level signals such as thermistors, DC signals, and pulse- width modulation. It can be powered with a direct current source from 5-15 VDC and has built-in current regulators so no external components are required. The LM3916N-1 has programmable peak and hold thresholds and system power down modes for power saving and will operate over a wide temperature range for improved reliability. The LED display is completely adjustable for fast rise and fall times and brightness, as well as off and on delay times. The integrated logic also includes a logic low-power shutdown input, so it only takes a few microamps of current when not in use.
