The AX5051 is a general purpose single-chip RF transceiver for 433/868/915 MHz SRD bandwidths. The device is typically used over medium distances of up to 1 km. The transceiver supports data rates from 1 - 600 kbps. The AX5051 transceiver consists of an integrated video front-end, as well as modulators and demodulators, a flexible communications controller, and an integrated voltage regulator. Baseband data processing is implemented in the integrated communication controller, allowing user-friendly communication and configuration via an SPI interface. The integrated frame processing allows the use of a low-cost external microcontroller. With data rates of up to 350 kbps for FSK modulated data and up to 600 kbps for ASK/PSK modulated data, this chip is the leader of the AXSEM narrow bandwidth transceiver family. The transceiver has a sensitivity of -116 dBm at 1.2 kbps, -103 dBm at 100 kbps, and achieves these sensitivity values when operating at 433 MHz, 868 MHz, and 915 MHz. The AX5051 supports FSK, MSK, PSK and ASK modulations. In transmit mode, all modulations are shaped. AX5051 is a very easy to use protocol implemented in hardware. The CRC is automatically calculated in RX and TX. The digital distribution spectrum can be implemented under all modulations. All parameters of the AX5051 such as modulation, frequency, fluctuation and output power can be programmed via the SPI interface. Systems built with the AX5051 provide a cost effective, maximum range bi-directional communication link.
