The CAT1023 is a complete memory and supervisory solution for microcontroller-based systems, with EEPROM serial 2-Kb CPU supervisor and system power supervisor with undervoltage protection, integrated in a low-power CMOS process. The memory interface is implemented over a 400 kHz I?C bus. CAT1023 provides a precise VCC sense circuit and two open-drain outputs: one (RESET) drives high and one (RESET) drives low when VCC drops below the reset threshold voltage. If the WP coupling logic is high, write operation is disabled. The supervisor has a 1.6 second supervisor timer circuit that resets the system to a known state if a software or hardware failure suspends or "hangs" the system. This power monitoring circuitry protects the memory and system controller and resets them during power-on/off and for undervoltage conditions. Five reset threshold voltages are supported for 5.0 V, 3.3 V, and 3.0 V systems. If the supply voltage is outside the tolerance range, the reset signal becomes active, preventing the system microcontroller, ASIC, or peripheral from operating. The reset signal typically becomes inactive after the supply voltage exceeds the reset threshold level for 200 ms. It is very simple to connect the microcontroller and other ICs via active high and low reset signals. Alternatively, the reset pin or a separate input MR can be used as an input for the push-button manual reset capability. The on-chip 2-Kb EEPROM memory has 16-byte pages. In addition, hardware data protection is provided by VCC sensing circuitry that prevents writing to the memory before VCC drops below the reset threshold or before VCC reaches the reset threshold during power-up. Available in 8-pin DIP, 8-pin SOIC, 8-pin TSSOP, 8-pin TDFN, and 8-pin MSOP. the TDFN package is up to 0.8 mm thick.
