Description
The TPS62125 is a high-efficiency synchronous step-down converter designed for low and ultralow power applications, with an output current of up to 300 mA. The 3 V to 17 V input voltage range accommodates 4-cell alkaline and 1- to 4-cell LiIon batteries in series, as well as 9-V to 15-V powered applications. A precise low-power enable comparator is included in the device, which can be utilized as an input supply voltage supervisor (SVS) to meet system-specific power-up and power-down requirements. The enable comparator consumes only 6-A quiescent current and has a typical accurate threshold of 1.2 V as well as customizable hysteresis. The converter may generate a power supply rail using this function by extracting energy from a storage capacitor fed by high impedance sources such as solar panels or current loops. The converter's DCS- Control system enables power-saving mode operating to retain maximum efficiency across the entire load current range. At low load currents, the converter operates in pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode and seamlessly and automatically changes to pulse width modulation (PWM) mode at larger load currents. The DCS-ControlTM scheme is tailored for low output ripple voltage in PFM mode to minimize output noise and boasts good AC load regulation. Once the output voltage is regulated, an open-drain power good output indicates it.
