Description
The SYN470R is a single-chip ASK/OOK (ON-OFF Keyed) RF receiver integrated circuit. This device is a real monolithic "antenna-in to data-out" device. All RF and IF tuning is done automatically within the IC, eliminating human tuning and lowering production costs. As a result, a highly reliable yet low-cost solution has been created.
The SYN470R is a fully featured part in 16-pin packaging, while the SYN480R is the same part in 8-pin packaging but with a reduced feature set.
The SYN470R has two additional functions: (1) a Shutdown pin that can be used to turn the device off for duty-cycled operation, and (2) a "Wake-up" output that gives an output flag signaling the presence of an RF signal. Because of these characteristics, the SYN470R is suited for low and ultra-low power applications such as RKE and remote controls.
The SYN470R includes all IF filtering and post-detection (demodulator) data filtering, thus no extra filters are required. The user can select one of four demodulator filter bandwidths outside.
The SYN470R has two operating modes: fixed-mode (FIX) and sweep-mode (SW) (SWP). In fixed mode, the SYN470R operates as a standard super-heterodyne receiver. The SYN470R sweeps a broader RF band in sweep mode. Fixed-mode performance improves selectivity and sensitivity, while sweep mode allows the SYN470R to be used with low-cost, inaccurate transmitters.
