The ON Semiconductor serial SRAM family includes several integrated memory devices, including this 1 Mb serial-access static random-access memory with an internal organization of 128 K words at 8 bits each. These devices are designed and manufactured using ON Semiconductor's advanced CMOS technology and offer high speed and low power performance. These devices operate through a single chip select (CS) input and use a simple serial peripheral interface (SPI) protocol. In SPI mode, a single data input (SI) and data output (SO) line along with a clock (SCK) are used to access the data in the device. In dual mode, two multiplexed data input/data output (SIO0-SIO1) lines are used, and in quad mode, four multiplexed data input/data output (SIO0-SIO3) lines are used to access memory. The N01S830xA device is available in two different versions, a HOLD version that allows communication with the device to be suspended and a battery backup (BBU) version with a battery to retain data in the event of a power failure.
